Ron Gremp

Ron was born in St. Louis, but spent most of his musical career playing with musicians based in Springfield, Missouri.  After acquiring his first drum kit at age 13, he played in bands most weekends throughout high school until, in 1977, when he joined the popular Springfield band, The Symptoms.  In 1980 he became a member of the nationally acclaimed roots rock band The Morells, and toured extensively with them until 1985. While living in New York City, Ron was a founding member of Eric Ambel’s NYC favorite Roscoe’s Gang and also played with another NYC favorite Carolyn Mas. Throughout his five decade career as a drummer he has played on nineteen albums with The Morells, The Symptoms, Eric Ambel, Carolyne Mas, Jonathan Richman, and many more.

Ron joined The Ozark Mountain Daredevils in 1989 and has remained their drummer since.  He’s had the pleasure of playing on four Daredevils’ albums: Now Hear This, 13, Alive and Wild, and their most recent recording Off The Beaten Path.  Ron’s years with the Daredevils have been a great ride, and he is thrilled with their newest album release and is looking forward to sharing the new music with the band’s loyal fans.

Active since 1989
